AQUEOUS COATING is more environmentally friendly than varnish coating because it's water based. It is applied to the sheet by an additional coating tower on the press. It seals the ink which dries almost instantly and creates a protective gloss finish on the sheet. It has better "hold-out" than varnish because it doesn't seep into the paper and it doesn't crack or scuff easily. Aqueous coating does, however, cost more than varnish but we think it is worth giving you the highest quality product as our standard. (Color Printing Pros offers FREE Aqueous coating)
